Shared and reseller hosting: IPv6 is a fact
The world is running out of IPv4 IP’s, if there are no IP’s left we can’t connect more devices or people to the WWW(World Wide Web). This can be crucial in so the next step is to switch to IPv6. And we have made that step: all our services have native IPv6 support.
We have tested IPv6 on the server for our website before we had updated our servers with success. A few days ago the first IPv6 visitor was a fact (excluding ourself). After testing the FTP, SMTP, IMAP, web and DNS services over IPv6 with success we have decided to activate IPv6 support on every web server.
Unfortunately DirectAdmin doesn’t have a tool to do this for us, so we have to add IPv6 support to every reseller, user and domain. This may take a few days before it’s completed.
New accounts
Another missing feature in DirectAdmin is that new users don’t have an account with IPv6 support. When you order a new plan and your plan is activated, you can open a ticket with a request for IPv6.
Resellers
We have assigned every reseller their own IPv6 IP. When you have a reseller, you need to assign the IP manually to the account as DirectAdmin doesn’t support it to assign the IPv6 IP with the IPv4 IP.
In a new blog post we will explain how you can add IPv6 support to your account/domain.
